Fundraising for Dog Guides

In 2025, our Pet Valu Walk for Dog Guides celebrated 40 years of helping people with disabilities get assistance from a Dog Guide so that they can navigate the world with confidence and independence.

The Uxbridge Lions Walk for Dog Guides was held on Sunday, May 25th under cloudy skies but the rain held off.  A small but enthusiastic crowd with pups and their handlers came out, and $12,900.00 was raised.  Amazing!

Lots of "Doggie Bags," and various canine gifts were given to the walkers, compliments of Pet Valu Uxbridge.  Water bowls welcomed the four-legged friends.  Hot coffee, water bottles and hot dogs were on hand for the walkers.

Welcome to The Lions Art In The Park 2026 Silent Auction Raising Funds For Dog Guides

Many of our artists/artisans donate to our silent auction. All money raised during this auction goes to Dog Guides of Canada.

Training a Dog Guide costs $35,000.

The Silent Auction allows the Lions to help people through the following programs:

Fostering a Guide Dog

Past President Bob Armitage recently stated,

“Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides 'remains my personal favourite cause.' I take every opportunity in conversations and through Facebook to share this wonderful program and its benefits to our community of Uxbridge. Give them a visit at www.dogguides.com.  Consider fostering puppies in training.  Take each one for a year.  You may find it is difficult to give the dog up after a year, but the difference the dog makes in the life of the recipient makes it all worthwhile.

Perhaps you can foster a puppy too, we did; just check it out! www.dogguides.com
